An intense storm of rain, hail, and wind gusts of up to 100 km/h hit the Buenos Aires Metropolitan Area (AMBA), leaving behind flooded streets, submerged vehicles, and a massive power outage affecting thousands of homes. The magnitude of the phenomenon was felt most strongly in the southern and northern suburbs, where localities such as Ezeiza and Lomas de Zamora recorded 70 millimeters of rain in just sixty minutes. In the Escobar district, the impact of the wind caused significant damage in areas like GarĂn, El Cazador, and the town center. Local residents reported roofs being blown off and glass shattering in various shops due to the force of the gusts.
According to the Argentine News Agency, the situation in Quilmes was equally critical, with significant floods that left cars almost completely covered by water and trees dragged through the streets. Municipal authorities have requested the population to stay in their homes while Civil Defense, Public Spaces, and Urban Guard teams work in the affected areas. The strong storm of hail and wind caused roof blow-offs, fallen trees, and street collapses.
In parallel, the power grid suffered severe damage; according to the latest update at 8:15 AM, the company Edesur registers a total of 7,837 users without supply, while in Edenor's coverage area, the number of users without power rises to 8,866, totaling more than 16,000 affected homes in the region.
